Physical Development

Encourage children to imagine that they are going on a long walk and make up a story including events and activities which will need a change of clothes on the way. First they need to dress. Then they must fill a large rucksack with changes of clothing to suit a variety of weather. Help children to think about the types of clothes they might pack and to move imaginatively according to the descriptions given in the story. (PD1, 4)

Tell children a story of dressing warmly to go outside on a windy day. The wind is very strong and children need to walk slowly, feeling their way so as not to be blown away. Encourage children to walk carefully as they use a range of balancing equipment as bridges, and so on. (PD3, 7)

Enjoy having dressing-up races using clothes for all weathers. (PD4)
